Get Involved

More than 8,000 South Australians are diagnosed with cancer each year, and across Australia, 1 in every 3 men and 1 in every 4 women are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 75yrs (AIHW Cancer in Australia 2006 Report http://www.aihw.gov.au/publications/index.cfm/title/10476).

CVSA differs from other cancer support groups (which help people get through their own cancer experience) by ‘Raising a Voice for those affected by cancer’.

“The personal journey and life changing transformation that a cancer diagnosis brings means adjusting to a ‘new normal’ way of life” says Ashleigh Moore, Chair, Cancer Voices SA. “We may have scars to heal, physical limitations, uncertain future, … yet some people want to make a difference and as part of getting on with their ‘new life’ (life with or after cancer) … turn this experience into something positive. You can be ‘part of the solution’, contributing your cancer experience, observations and/or ideas to improve the situation for others.”

CVSA members provide active representation in a number of advisory positions at the state and national level. The table below lists CVSA cancer consumer representatives, with links to information about the work of these committees.
